Casting for an All-BBW Mike Adriano film, and why it won’t happen.

There is a clip on YouTube of a baby taking his first bite of bacon. I shouldn’t have to tell you that bacon is the food of gods. There are very few food items that elicit excitement. Bacon is near the top of the list.

My best friend and his wife would fix breakfast any time I stayed for the night. If she said she was cooking eggs, I was like, “That’s cool.” If she said she was cooking pancakes, I was like, “Yessir, love me some pancakes.” If she said she was cooking bacon, I was ready to run through a fucking wall.

When that baby took his first bite of bacon, that was a baby ready to run through a wall. The constant exclamations of “BACON!” are good enough. But the immediate reaction to each bite is priceless.

The sweet wave of sodium hit his lips like a nuclear explosion, and all he could do is let out orgasmic sounds of glee. He kept his eyes closed as he savored that taste like he had entered his own personal heaven. He was seeing God for the first time, and when his eyes opened he felt inspired to share the word. “BACON!”

There was a time when I could spend a full hour or two just browsing through porn. That’s so much fucking porn. I can barely find two hours of free time in my day, yet somehow I was finding two hours to lean my face toward my computer screen. Yet in those countless amount of days watching a couple of hours of porn, there has been only one thing I have seen that felt like that first taste of bacon: a Mike Adriano directed scene. “ADRIANO!”

Porn is so repetitive and similarly shot across the board that everything we see tends to bleed together. There are few production studios or directors that capture pornography with a lens different enough to stand out. The generation of pornstars will change with time, a studio may tweak its presentation, and video quality will continue to advance. But in the end, it’s all the same shit.

Keisha Grey has been in porn since August of 2013. She has been credited with 275 scenes according to the Internet Adult Film Database. That’s one person, in close to four years. And I can’t damn-near remember any one of them.

I don’t know how many scenes, pornstars, PornHub videos, or studios I have looked at in my time of watching porn. I can probably distinctly remember 1% of them, if that. But I remember the first time I saw a Mike Adriano scene. Not the details or second-for-second visuals, just the feeling that hit me. That wave smacked my face so hard I had to turn away from the screen like I knew my eyes weren’t worthy of what he graced us with. The angles, the lighting, the focus on the curves, understanding all the things a true ass enthusiast wants to see, it was marvelous.

We have been filming people having sex for who knows how long, and this man somehow managed to give us something uniquely different. There’s an anal sex scene, and then there’s a Mike Adriano anal POV sex scene. His scenes are the same, but his style is one that stands out amongst styles. There’s levels to this shit.

I don’t fully remember who the woman was in the scene. Might have been Katie St. Ives or Jada Stevens. But I remember hoping he would continue doing more scenes like it. I had no idea just how much I was going to get. I don’t even know how many of these things he has made for Evil Angel. (Editor’s note: 203. The answer is 203. He’s made as many films since 2010 as Keisha Grey has done scenes.)

He’s gotten so good at this that even his own niche has become niched. He has films focused on blowjobs, MILFs, teens, black women, Asian women, women who love tattoos, women with big butts or big breasts, women who swallow or apparently need further training, talent who aren’t from America, and some talent strictly from America. The dude is hitting all corners. He’s putting bacon in everything. “BACON!”

Well, with one exception. For as much as Mike Adriano has done, for as many DVDs as he has probably sold or as many buys he has helped Evil Angel gain, there is one niche that might be too niche for even him. And that should say something.

What would an All-BBW cast for a Mike Adriano directed film look like? Let’s create a mix of women I would want to see while remaining reasonable with expectations. This isn’t a wishlist of BBW pornstars I would want to see do a hardcore or anal scene. That’d be too easy.

That’s like whenever March hits, WWE fans come up with their WrestleMania wishlist, and for whatever reason it includes the Bullet Club or Ricochet. No, it’s not going to happen. So as much as Mia Sweetheart makes all the sense in the world for an Adriano scene, it’s not happening. We can do a “Man, I wish this woman did a hardcore scene” list for another day.

How many women are typically featured in an Adriano film? 4? 5? 4.5? Let’s go with five scenes, five women. I’m pretending we only get one shot at this, so let’s make it count.

In my scenario, I select a pornstar to cover a different niche or type. I don’t want to shoot for every BBW with a big butt. That would get boring, quickly. I want there to be some variety so that BBW fans can get a little bit of everything. I’ve listed all five pornstars, the reason why I chose them, and an alternate selection (sort of like an honorable mention):

1. Bunny De La Cruz: She’s a legend in BBW pornography with a body perfectly built for how Adriano shoots his scenes. I have to include at least one well-known pornstar from the genre that has been doing scenes for years. Because she has a big butt to match her big tits, she just makes too much sense for this concept. I also considered Samantha 38G. In the perfect world, they would just do a scene together.

2. Lynn Underwood: Adriano’s films typically feature at least one relative newcomer. There are a lot of options as there seems to be a new BBW discovery every week. Underwood has done softcore work for XL Girls, but just recently did a hardcore scene for PlumperPass. She has more curves than I originally realized. Curvy Quinn would’ve been my other option.

3. Maserati XXX: We have to do a scene for BBW’s that are really just “plumpers” or overly voluptuous. This is how we bridge the gap with non-BBW lovers by offering someone that has some traction in more standardized porn. There are a ton of options for this. Virgo Peridot is the most sensible (and could do anal), but she’s already done a scene for Adriano. I’m choosing Maserati XXX over Mya Blair. Too stacked, too thick, and black. She’s needed.

4. Alyson Galen: One pornstar has to have monstrous boobs. This is the one chance we have to really go overboard on boob size, so we need to take advantage. Trick is, the woman chosen also needs to have a round butt. Lexxxi Luxe is the most obvious choice, but it’s almost so obvious that I would go in a different direction and take Galen.

5. Klaudia Kelly: A predictable choice. In many respects, choosing Kelly is no different than choosing De La Cruz. I’m just trying to kill two birds in one stone. She covers the need for a pornstar with a big butt and can offer the staple of any Adriano film: anal sex. There has to be at least one woman that can do it. Lucy Lenore would be a sleeper choice for this, even if anal sex wasn’t involved.

A couple of things: I would absolutely buy that DVD (and I haven’t bought a porn DVD since purchasing Mamacitas 3 in 2004), and that DVD will probably never come to fruition. Even as Evil Angel seems to slightly embrace BBW porn, getting Adriano to direct a BBW film may be asking too much. We’re just not there yet.

On a former blog, I actually took the time to rank the top ten BBW pornstars. Of course there were some detractors, because there always will be. But there was one commenter who expressed real frustration over my choices. Yup, you guessed it … Mandy Majestic!

I thought it was a joke, too. But turns out it really was her, and she truly was frustrated. Her write-up was a bit “keyboard warrior”-ish: weird and inconsistent use of capitalization, insults, lacking punctuation, etc. But she made a point that was thought-provoking and made it easy to understand where her frustration came from. She noted that half of the girls on my list were not true BBW’s, but rather they were plumpers.

She was right, and my list showed a problem with the BBW genre overall. It’s not that producers in the BBW genre don’t even understand their own subject matter. They aren’t that stupid. I feel there is an unspoken sense that going “true” BBW isn’t going to sell as well.

The pornstars we identify as plumpers are really just the average American woman. They may feel like BBW’s in comparison to the girls we see in standard porn, but the label being given to them doesn’t actually ring true. Problem is, they don’t really belong to a defined category.

It’s similar to how the “plus-size” label is used in modeling. Women like Naomi Shimada and Ashley Graham are certainly bigger and curvier than the average model. But I wouldn’t think of them as “plus-size” women. Thing is, no one would consider them along the same lines as the standard model. So they get thrown into a category that, while misconstrued, does a better job of quickly identifying the body type they present.

But while the mass consumer (who apparently still looks at women in SFW magazines) might not be ready for Rayna Salcido Alvarez, that person is ready for Graham. And SI understood that. Body positivity is great, but it shouldn’t be confused with body attractiveness.

We are socially conscious enough to have admiration for different body types without necessarily finding them sexy. Offering it up to a mass audience only happens in baby steps. Choosing Graham wasn’t so much of a stretch that most people would be turned off walking by an SI Swimsuit cover. The day will come when women of bigger sizes will be prominently featured in fashion, but that day isn’t today. For now, we just show respect to women with the courage (or maybe confidence) to display that big is beautiful, too.

That’s how the “plumper” is used in BBW porn. A general porn audience might not be completely on board with the likes of Lila Lovely, Erin Green, and Sofia Rose. Which is fine, not like it really matters. They have a strong contingent of true BBW-lovers that will buy their work, and rightfully so.

But add in a little bit of Virgo Peridot, a sprinkle of Maria Bose, and maybe a dash of Anastasia Lux, and baby, you’ve got a stew going. They are not true BBW’s. They are the subcategory of the niche. Yet, they are needed to bridge the gap and open up the doors to a wider audience.

The beauty in porn is that there is something for everyone. It isn’t realistic to expect the average porn viewer to have an interest in seeing bigger women. But that also means the possibility of a niche genre getting the same level of exploration as standard porn does is unlikely. Greg Lansky probably isn’t developing a BBW portfolio akin to VIXEN or BLACKED. And Mike Adriano, a director that seems willing to explore a number of different concepts, probably isn’t exploring this one.

Adriano’s work may have a unique look and focus, but it isn’t “niche” the way Jay Sin’s or Joey Silvera’s work is “niche.” There is a general audience that would more than enjoy Adriano’s work. That’s why it’s featured across different platforms. But if Adriano did a film the way I’m suggesting (or rather, hoping), he would be catering to a specific, and much smaller, audience.

One of the harsh lessons I learned in sales and account management is that some accounts aren’t worth the trouble. Why hop in my car and fill up on gas to save an account generating $6,000 of revenue for my company when I can help an account generating $24,000? If we lose the $6,000 account, so be it. An All-BBW film to cater to a smaller audience is that $6,000 account. It’s not worth the trouble.

But hell, it’s not like I know this. Maybe I’m underestimating the tastes and interests of porn viewers. Who’s to say we aren’t a few films away from seeing an all-plumper cast? I mean, baby steps, right? It could serve as a bridge to the all-BBW cast I want. Just not right now. We’re not there yet.

  1. Wow, read your stereo mental article here and it read as the world as always seen women of size. If she is over a size 10 she is a BBW/ Large woman. If you are watching closely no one is waiting on one production company to upgrade women of size models/actress are doing it on their own. Don’t seat or second guest on money there is profit in producing women of size. When i see porn with small women it look like the same scene over and over again.

  2. How about some black or non white BBW? Christy Live for starters? LingLing? Doesn’t always need to be white white white more white. The problem lies in favoritism. What about Kristi maxx or any other NON WHITE BBW?. You can’t tell me fans only want white women. This is why BBW porn is so boring now . white favoritism is why BBW porn has become a crock of sh*t. Least back in the day before twitter it wasn’t all about the same boring group of models you actually had a little bit of everything. The few companies that shoot BBW or claim to either 1. Only promote their white models – look at The biggest names in the game, they aren’t even shooting “true” bbw, more so plumpers with 3 extra pounds of fat, that’s laughable and nowhere near bbw. look at PP, a black owned company who shits on his models and almost only promotes his white models. That guy has burned so many bridges with what decent BBW are left that it’s resulted in him shooting thin models as well to fill the void by bbw who refuse to shoot with him or return. at the end of the day, ethnic girls will Always get the least promotion but always be the most desirable. Crappy but it’s the industry I suppose. I will continue to support solo girls and their sites and clips because most big box sites are a crock of canned shark Shit in regards to what they consider BBW.
