Porn is full of sex positions that are really just yoga poses in disguise.

Yoga is a visually sexual activity—I believe so, at least. So it makes sense that yoga is used in porn. While I exercise often, I know close to nothing about yoga. I’m just aware it’s popular and it would be hard for me to concentrate in a room of women wearing skin-tight yoga pants.

I searched through a lot of basic yoga poses and found seven that honestly look like sex positions to the mind of a perv like myself.

(I know using stock photos would be a better way to display the poses. But I’m sure the models in those stock photos never intended to be used on a porn blog or in a sexual context. So … I’ll just use porn.)

Downward Dog Pose

Duh! It’s the prime “face down, ass up” position.

When I hear “face down, ass up,” I naturally want to follow that with “that’s the way we like to fuck.” Turns out, this is a lyric from The 2 Live Crew, so I’m not as creative as I thought. I just have suppressed hip-hop memories. But if The 2 Live Crew has a song repping the downward dog, then it must be sexy.

The downward dog pose puts great emphasis on the ass. Any ass-related sex is perfect, be it oral sex from behind or using the pose as a doggy style variation. If we use a POV camera perspective focused on the butt, Mike Adriano would probably shed a tear at the visual magnificence of the shot.

If any porn scene plans on using yoga as a backdrop and doesn’t include this pose, that studio is doing porn incorrectly.

Bridge Pose

In “Squirting Stories: Part One” from Girlsway, Megan Rain does a bridge pose and squirts right into Adriana Chechik’s mouth. To this day, it is still one of the most graphic things I have seen in mainstream porn.

The bridge pose is the yoga pose for oral sex. The only action I can visually imagine with this pose is licking pussy because I’m a perv with an oral fixation. If a pornstar is flexible enough to execute and hold it, it seems too good to pass up.

Wide-Legged Standing Forward Bend

I feel like penetration would be very strong and possibly hurt from this pose. But again, I’m not a woman, so I don’t actually know this to be true. A standing forward bend with the legs spread wide seems better for porn purposes and offers versatility.

It’s easy to visualize oral sex (either the woman receiving oral or giving oral). Penetration seems more reasonable with a wide-legged stance. It also offers a generally good view of the woman’s ass and vagina. It’s an all-around solid pose.

Cat-Cow Pose

This seems like an everyday, run-of-the-mill porn pose, no? The cat-cow pose looks like the standard for all anal or vaginal intercourse happening from behind the woman. It’s like the OG of yoga poses done during sex and porn.

Happy Baby Pose

I hate the word “baby” being in this pose, but only because this is a porn blog. In a normal fitness context, it would be perfectly okay. Also, I can’t tell you how long it took to find a picture of a pornstar doing a happy baby pose without a dick or tongue involved.

In fairness, “happy baby” is probably the best way to describe this pose. Like the cat-cow pose, this is another OG of poses that work as sex positions. Just about any sex action can be done from this position. Seems perfect for those moments when the guy plows into the woman’s vagina (something that annoys me, by the way), but there is actually a Plow Pose in yoga. Maybe I should’ve included that. Oh well.

Low Cobra Pose

It’s a prone pose with more emphasis on the ass. Visually, prone sex in porn is very hot, but I wasn’t aware of how popular it is amongst porn viewers. On XVideos, a search for “prone bone pov” results in over 82,000 videos. Not to be outdone, “prone bone anal” has over 220,000 videos because of course it does.

This is also a pose seen often in photos and videos for studio In The Crack, just further proving it is a visually great shot. In The Crack rarely makes a mistake with their approach to camera angles and positioning.

Puppy Pose

It’s another “face down, ass up” position, automatically making it sexual. However, I don’t see a very practical use for it in porn. The Cat-Cow Pose is very similar. The big difference is that the ass is pointed upwards toward the air in the Puppy Pose.

Visually, the only thing I can think of is the Puppy Pose may be able to expose more when doing a POV perspective. Cat-Cow is all butt cheeks overlapping some dick. Puppy Pose is all dick being uncovered during penetration.
